2014 School Year – videos

September 16, 2014

I just heard about this super fun app for my phone (future readers, that means it’s a program on my handheld mobile telephone – currently I’m using an iPhone 5). It allows you to create these adorable videos – they prompt you with questions and put it together with the music and everything!
School started two weeks ago but I still did the beginning of the school year template. Here they are for both kids.

Not until I’m 7. Ok, today is good.

August 16, 2014

My sweet boy is so not like his sister in so many ways and when it came to learning to ride a bike, it reminded me of this again.
Carson had told us that he didn’t want to learn how to ride a bike until he turned 7. But when I told him that once he learned how to ride a bike, we could ride bikes to Dairy Queen (I wasn’t interested in suffering through a trip to DQ with him and training wheels and hills).
DQ was the trick because he let me take the wheels off on Sunday night. It …

June 2013

June 29, 2013

Looks like my inability to actually post things regularly means I will be writing monthly updates. That’s depressing. But oh well. Warning – this is a really long post
June brought a tornado siren, a tornado, the end of the school year, a dance recital, a room change and three weeks of camps (the tornado siren and tornado were technically the end of May, but close enough to June to count).
Tornado Siren
Rick left for the College World Series with softball on Tuesday, May 28th. We were supposed to get bad weather that night but just as Mallory’s gymnastics class was wrapping …

The Barbecue Shop

June 16, 2013

Rick had the idea that I can give Carson a haircut at home every other time he needs a haircut. I asked the C-Dog yesterday if I can cut his hair and he said no.

Softball Boy

June 9, 2013

We can’t forget Carson in all of Mallory’s batgirl-ness.
First up :: After every game, he hustles himself to his spot outside the Michigan locker room where, because he has learned/memorized every single softball player’s name & number [thanks to the softball cards they handed out this season], he greets EVERY.SINGLE.SOFTBALL player by name as he gets a high five and sometimes a hug.
Here he is greeting them all after their Super Regional win back in May:
Then, if we have time, we hang out outside the locker room so he can say hi again.
Here he is with “the best home …

First & Second

May 27, 2013

After almost two years of weekly swim lessons at Goldfish, Mallory graduated to the swim team. At her first swim team practice, they told us that we should just let her swim for 30 minutes or so because it will be a big adjustment from her 30-minute swim lessons but at the 29 minute mark of the one hour swim team practice, she was breathing heavy on the side of the pool, but she didn’t give Rick or me any indication that she was ready to get out of the pool. At the end of practice, I think the coach …

Beach Party ~ Christmas Eve Style

December 25, 2012

After arriving in Florida on 12/23, there was early practice on Monday (for the players, not the families), followed by a party on the beach (for the players and the families). Seeing as how I’m not a fan of playing volleyball, and ladder golf seemed a little dangerous with Carson, I instead took up a spot next to the middle volleyball court where a huge game had developed. It started with a few kids, but then the football players started joining in.
It was Denard and Frank Clark v Dennis Norfleet and Cam Gordon (each team had other players too but …

Hangman with a kid who can’t spell. Or write.

December 13, 2012

Mallory got this hangman set from my dad for her birthday because she was constantly setting up hangman games.
Carson has watched Mallory play for the past month-ish and has learned the routine.
He & I woke up early one morning last weekend and he grabbed the hangman board and challenged me to a game.

Catching up ~ August 2012

November 25, 2012

OK, I am literally going to write a post to [try to] catch up on the last 3 months. Three months of football season + three months of a bajillion photo shoots = three months of craziness.
Here we go:
We spent lots of summer time at the pool – it helped that it was hotter than hades this summer and that we were able to join Georgetown Country Club this summer.
Carson learned how to swim:

and go off the diving board (he would do this for as long as someone would catch him) – and it’s fun to go back and watch …
