Carson, grandpa, Mallory

Another “This is my life” picture post.

June 26, 2011

Mallory in her new Fancy Nancy dress that her Grandma made. And Carson riding the zipline with his sister’s pink sunglasses.
Not sure what else I need to say except thank goodness for days (and laughs) like this to make up for days (and tears) like yesterday.

Grandpa’s Grandparent Questionnaire

June 23, 2011

I had a SUPER great idea to have my parents & Rick’s parents complete this cool grandparent questionnaire. I thought it would be SO fun to have for Mallory & Carson when they were older. {I am happy to email this to anyone without answers if you want to borrow it! Just comment below or send me an email at stb (at) smellslikepopsicles (dot) com!}
I originally sent this out to all the grandparents in March 2009…the month I was due with Arlo (aka Carson, my now almost 27-month old son). My dad is the only one who has returned his …

Brave Girl

Father’s Day / Sunday June 19, 2011 / Clear Lake Michigan
Guest Post by Grampa
This Father’s Day, I took my favorite daughter {Samantha}, my two favorite granddaughters {Lauren & Mallory} and two of my favorite grandsons {Liam & Carson} to my co-worker Judi’s house on Clear Lake. Two other little girls that were at Judi’s house (her granddaughter Brynn [7] and her friend Mia [5]) wanted to go tubing so I said I’d tow them around the lake a few times with my boat. My favorite granddaughters Mallory and Lauren wanted to ride in the boat also, and the adult spotter …

Ziplining Away…

May 20, 2011

My dad loves being a grandpa. Like he LOVES it. He doesn’t love changing diapers, but he loves hanging out with my kids and Emily’s kids, and spoiling them pretty rotten. Santa ALWAYS fills stockings for the grandkids at my dad’s house, and the Easter Bunny seems to make a stop at my dad’s house to hide all of his eggs so the grandkids have to go help my dad find all the eggs the EB hid, and then of course they get too much Easter candy…
So basically my dad is a big kid.
This past Christmas, my dad got a …

Profession

March 7, 2011

Rick emailed me this, with the description that Mallory said it yesterday (I’m assuming he emailed himself so he could remember it):

“If you swallow a candle it will burn your heart. Then you will have to swallow a band-aid to make it better.”

I forwarded it to some people so they could see how funny Mallory is.
My dad wrote back:

“I think you should steer her away from medicine.  Sounds like an engineer.”

I think I’m not sure who is funnier, my dad or Mallory.

Jailbirds

November 10, 2010

Back when I posted the second picture on this post, I realized that I needed to get one of all four of us in our blue & white striped shirts/dresses/onsies.
It took me until November to get the picture taken (how dumb was it for me to wait until it was freezing out to take a picture of us in our short sleeves, etc), but I present to you three generations of blue & white stripes.

The wonderful thing about Grandpas…

August 1, 2010

I know I’m telling this whole “we rented the lake house…moved into my dad’s…bought a new house” story all in pieces, and you’ll get it all eventually, I promise. Anyway…
This picture sums up of one of my favorite interactions between my dad & Mallory during the time we lived at my dad’s house. Mallory had already gone to bed (not asleep yet though) and my dad noticed the fireflies were out like CRAZY. He asked if he could get Mallory up to come see them…how can I say no to that?
So my dad & Mals sat there on the edge …

“Flordida” 2010, Part II

May 17, 2010

And…here’s the rest of our trip!
So, Monday the 17th we had scheduled breakfast with the princesses at Epcot. When we woke that morning, I told Mallory “Happy PRINCESS DAY!”. With three-year-old attitude and sass, she looked at me and said “princesses don’t say that.”.
Oh.
Anyway…I’d brought Mallory’s Little Mermaid costume, thinking she would want to wear that to the breakfast, but my spinny-dress-loving girl kept with tradition and wore…a spinny dress.
I need to insert here that my dad was wearing a walking boot on his leg because of some pretty bad plantar fasciitis, so we’d rented him a little scooter to …

My little Buffett fan

September 13, 2009

Mallory is all about Jimmy Buffett’s “Volcano”, telling me “I want the ‘I DON’T KNOW’ song” and she loves the song “Fins”. Here she is doing the Fins dance!

We were at my dad’s the other day and my dad put Buffett on and Mallory started telling my dad “Hey! We have this (music) at MY house!!”
