Christmas Cards

I had a lot of fun (and spent too much time) designing our Christmas cards this year. I am pretty happy with how they turned out, and am already planning next year’s card. Just kidding (sort of).  I had a big learning experience this year – DO NOT ORDER PHOTO CARDS FROM VISTA PRINT. They were HORRIBLE and I ended up having to scramble to order from another place. The new place was more expensive per card, but I got overnight shipping for $10. Vista was cheap for the cards, but $40 for 7-day shipping, so it ended up being about the same. (I’ve used Vista print for regular invitations before and they were great – so I will just not use them for anything photo-related [I had a friend order her cards from there also and they were bad, so they sent her another batch and they were bad too…])

But the best part is that the new cards looked a million times better and I got a “pearl” finish on them so they looked sooo pretty.

My sister “hired” me to to hers too. Emily’s looked especially pretty with the pearl finish on the blue background.  emily_again_2009

I have an online friend who asked me to do her cards also (I got to do her birth announcements back in the fall!). How cute are her two sweeties? mesa_xmas_2009-joyful

I’m already getting requests from people to do their cards next year, so reserve your spot now! ;-)

  1. They look WONDERFUL! ALL OF THEM! I wasn’t knocking red, green, and parents by the way, just wasn’t able to accomplish that goal this year. I have always been SO stuck on their needing to be SNOW in the picture that we have to scramble at the last minute if we don’t get snow right away that I went a completely different direction.

The funniest part is that the night I took the picture I used I actually thought to myself before we left the house, “For once I’m not going to put them in coordinating clothes since we’ll be indoors for the ‘campfire’ program (it was a slideshow) and won’t be taking ‘good’ pictures anyway. I won’t make that mistake again! :)

Thanks for the tip about Vista! I used our local Sam’s Club because they are quick and cheap. I did cards for 4 families this year and am so glad they were all done before THANKSGIVING. It’s WAY too busy after that to be running to the lab all the time. I will be making it very clear on my website for next year that if anyone wants Christmas cards the deadline for contacting me is Mid November.
.-= MamaBear´s last blog ..this is not an ordinary Christmas card =-.

  2. Such a nice family you have!! Your children are growing so fast!! I hope you have a wonderful holiday and a great new year!!
