Mallory

Softball – 2016

After taking a few months off (due to a certain leg fracture and subsequent rehab), Mallory was ready to get back on the ballfield this spring.

She played little league in the spring and come the end of the spring, our girl was chosen for the Dexter All-Star team!! The team would represent Dexter Little League in the state tournament, starting with Districts, then Sectionals and then States.

All of us parents had watched our kids play all spring so we didn’t have very high hopes for the all-star run.

They practice four nights a week for a month, played a couple of tournaments but didn’t have great success. But then the District Tournament started – double elimination starting on a Friday.

They won their first game. All of a sudden we all realized we wouldn’t be able to have Sunday off.

And they won Saturday and we realized the girls had a chance to actually win the tournament.

And then they won Sunday to earn a shot in the Finals on Monday.

And they won on Monday and were crowned District 3 Champions!

But then they got crushed in Sectionals but it was still so much fun.

Mallory played well at 2nd base and it was so great to see how much the team improved over the course of the intense practices. She has really decided that softball is her “thing” and continued to work hard over the rest of summer to get better. It’s awesome!!!
