Smells Like Popsicles

As Mallory gets older, Rick & I have realized that we can’t have little snacks like we used to. You know, the handful of cheese-its or M&Ms or graham crackers we like to steal from the pantry. Because there is a toddler preschooler in our house who loves all things snacks. If you try to sneak something and she can tell you have your mouth full, she orders you to open your mouth with a bossy “Let me see in your mouth” which is usually followed by “can you share with me?”.

So Rick & I try and try to hide our snacking from her, and to be honest I think it’s helped me snack less (or maybe I just save it all up for after she goes to bed). We’ve also really started to watch what we make for dinner because I can’t make big pieces of garlic bread with our spaghetti and then expect her to not want any bread, etc.

But this morning I grabbed a couple of Skittles and made sure I swallowed them before I went to help Mallory get ready. She has the nose of a hunting dog though – she asked me what I was eating and I told her nothing.

Her response was “It smells like popsicles” as she headed to the kitchen in search of evidence…

  1. Too funny! I know what she’ll be when she grows up…I always wanted to be a detective too. Who knew it started at such a young age!?!? She’s a hoot, that Mallory.
